That awkward moment when your ex boyfriend's memorial Facebook page
posts a picture of him, and his date, at the prom he refused to
take you to back in '02 when you were dating.
This entry isn't going to be about my amazing son. It's going to be about how messed up some people can be.
The first person outside my family I ever loved died earlier this year. He killed himself unexpectedly, and I still have no idea what the hell happened.
This guy and I dated for a little under 2 years back in 2001-2003ish, on and off because he cheated on me super early into the relationship and instead of breaking up with each other, we stayed together.
I remember we'd been through a lot. We were constantly breaking up, then making up. It must have been like thee prime example of what not to do in a relationship.
During the time we were together, we were seniors in high school. I wanted to attend ONE dance before high school was over. And he would not take me to one. He told me they were stupid and he didn't want to go. So, I let it go. Whatever. Dances are dumb.
A few months ago by. One day, we're sitting in his living room watching TV. I must have been snooping around or something, because I randomly came across a photo from Santa Clara High's prom, and it was him posing with some random chick. He fucking took some chick from his school to the dance. That's why he didn't want to take me.
I'm over that. Whatever. Been over it for years and years.
However, when "the story of how Seth asked me to prom" is posted on Facebook, along with the photo I'd found, a bunch of old feelings can somehow resurface.
I should never have added his memorial page. Too many memories.
One of the things that hurts me the most is that he meant the world to me for so long, and I never meant much to him. After him and I broke up and he got back together with the chick he had dated (and cheated on me with) before me, he would call her "his high school sweet heart". Like I never existed.
He's dead now, so who gives a fuck? He must've known how horrible of a person he was.
I know this sounds offensive, but I feel like I deserve to vent about this. I knew him, too. I knew him well.
The end.

Owen is about 2 weeks away from being 16 months.
He climbs onto the couch without the help of a step now...which is totally mind blowing for us. Total game changer. Crawling was cool. Walking was cool. But climbing? Jeez. This shit is nuts. Awesome, though. I love watching him go.
His favorite thing to do at the park as of late is the swings. If I put him in there, he will not want to get out. And if I try to either straighten him out or take him out, he goes crazy. Then we have to leave the park.
Having a toddler is waaaaaaaaaaaay harder than having a baby.
But it's also waaaaaaaaaay more awesome.
He started saying "Uh oh!" recently.
He sleeps alllll night long -usually about 11 or 12 hours. I LOVE this.
His naps totally vary...sometimes they're long, sometimes they're early in the day, sometimes he doesn't nap at all.
I'm out of time now, Owen just woke up.
Till next time!

post-vacation.......
Arriving home from a vacation is always nice, but for the first few days I'm practically useless. I don't want to clean. I don't want to cook. I just want to sit. it's weird.
Owen did AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAZING on the flight to SFO. He literally passed out right when the plane got in the air, and woke up like 15 minutes before we landed.
Tara picked us up, surprising me with In 'N Out Burger! Owen and Jenna sort of shared a grilled cheese. I say "sort of" because it was mostly just thrown on the floor of Tara's car, ha!
We went straight to my Dad's house and sat around on his back patio drinking beers with all my besties, my sister who lives in Texas, my Dad and his wife. It was so nice. My Dad BBQ'd burgers and Mary made some bomb potato salad.
Owen gets along SO well with Jenna and Jeremiah. Jenna is 20 months, so she's on the verge of the "terrible-twos", and Jeremiah is 1.5 months older than Owen, putting him at about 16, almost 17 months. There were like NO baby fights. I was impressed. Usually someone steals something from someone and there's tears and screaming. But nope.
Owen would and could survive on nothing but PB&J sandwiches. Tara brought a tupperware full of PB&J's cut up into bite sizes pieces, so that's what the kids had for snacks, dinner, and desert. Ha! Along with fruit, of course.
After dinner, we went to Tara's house in Concord, where Owen and I stayed while in town. Concord is about 50 minutes from my Dad's (basically San Jose), and Tara, being the amazing friend she is, drove us down to San Jose EVERY SINGLE DAY I was down there. AND fed us hella good food everyday we were there.
I tried to get Owen to sleep with me in my bed, but he would not stay still. So we ended up busting out Tara's pack 'n play at almost midnight because the kids would not go to sleep! Tara's roommate gets up super early and is out the door by 5am every morning, so we were trying reallyyyy hard to quiet the kids down. Owen and Jenna were literally running around screeching. It was hysterical. But we felt bad for the roomie....so we ended up just separating them and forced sleep upon them. :]
Oh! I have a video of the screeching! It's only a few seconds, but it's cute & funny:
So once Owen was asleep, he was OUT for the night. So awesome. Slept till 7, which at home is usually cool. But Jenna doesn't wake up until almost 9, so we woke up way before Tara and Jenna every morning we were there.
But hot-damn, once they got up, Tara made a big delicious breakfast! Pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. At home, I just eat toast. Or nothing.
We went to Santa Cruz later that day with Ashlee, Jen, and Jeremiah. We had a blast! We went early enough that the kids had all somewhat napped, and we got a few hours of hot sun on the beach with kids, who were in awesome moods.
Owen seriously LOVES sand. He is like mesmerized by it. Makes me wish the parks around Tacoma had sand.
The next day, we basically just relaxed until dinner time when we went to Spaghetti Factory in San Jose to have dinner with my Aunt & Uncle. They absolutely LOVE Owen. It's cute how excited they always are to see him. I love my family, and I wish we lived closer to them.
On Friday, one of our good friends threw her birthday party. My Dad and his wife babysat Owen. When we left for the party, I felt really nervous leaving because Owen doesn't really know them very well, and I was afraid he'd flip out like the entire time. Which isn't like him, but still. I just thought "Oh NOW would be a horrible day to act crazy, Owen". But he did really well! They said he basically just walked around talking and playing until about 8:30, then he had a cup of warm milk and they rubbed his head until he fell asleep. He's such a great baby!!! I can't get over how amazing he is.
The party was fun. I dressed up as Catwoman. Here's a picture, in case you are interested:
My face looks weird in this picture, but I like the way I'm posing. ;D
That was my last night in California. I stayed up till 5am, and slept until 8am.....that part sucked.
The day we flew home, we left Tara's in the morning and headed to a beach in San Francisco. Again, Owen really liked the sand.
The beaches in San Francisco are more "bungle up because we're going to the beach" type beaches.
Reminds me of Washington beaches. The ocean beaches, I mean. Most ocean beaches are probably cold.
The flight home wasn't as smooth for me and Owen. He was not enjoying himself. However, he wasn't as upset as the looked-about-8-month-old-baby that sat 2 rows ahead of us. He was having a serious melt down. Owen would start fussing when the other baby would scream at the top of his lungs. Everyone who sat around me complimented me on how well he behaved so I guess he wasn't as bad as it seemed inside MY head. I get a little anxious when Owen fusses in public, even though people around me don't mind too much. Owen never freaks out. like I ALWAYS say, he's an amazing baby.
Nothing more to say for now! Till next time.....................................

What? Batman didn't wear pants, right?
Owen is 14 months old today. Still the greatest kid ever.
Went to bed last night, no problem. I just laid him down, he watched me walk out of the room, rolled over and passed out. Then slept all night long.
We're getting ready for our trip right now. Finishing up laundry and cleaning the house. Not that Tony will keep it clean while we're gone....oh well. I still feel kinda bad Tony doesn't get to come this trip, so I'll leave him a clean house.
I miss home too much not to visit every chance I get. Taking Owen with me and having him spend time with the people I love is SO important to me. Someday, I still hope to return to the bay, with my little family.
I had more to say but I am at a loss for words right now. So........

We went to the pumpkin patch today! There's a really awesome pumpkin patch/big farm out in Buckley, WA. At night time, they turn it into a haunted woods/corn maze walk-through thing. you know...you walk around the corn maze and the people jump out and scare you.
We just did the pumpkin patch portion today. Owen hunted for pumpkins.
He did pretty good. It takes about 30 minutes to get out there, and he napped the entire way there, so when we arrived and pulled him out of the car, he was all groggy and cranky for like 10 minutes. When we first set him down, he started crying and just like plopped his butt down on the ground, as if he was saying "I'm not down with this, you idiots".
But then he loosened up and ran around. :]
Good price on the pumpkins we chose, too. We only got 2. I got a big fat round pumpkin. Tony got a smaller, more oval pumpkin. I meant to get Owen one of those little tiny ones, but we forgot. I know, I'm a bad parent. ;)
I don't know what it is about the pumpkin patch (Maris Farms in particular - the one we visited today) but I just love it. I love Fall. I love October. I love Halloween. I love pumpkins. I love Halloween decorations.
Oh, I decorated the house today. Well, the front yard and porch...
Our front yard is a graveyard. A dollar store graveyard. :]
A little over a week until Owen & I are in sunny California for 5 days! EXCITEMENT.
The end.

Just a little update
Well, it happened again: My laptop is dead. Only this time, it wasn't because it was old. It fell off the back of our tall-ass couch about a week ago. Hard drive is totally messed up now. Sadness.
Thankfully, I still have my husband's laptop. :]
Owen has quite the social life! We have been going to the park on a daily basis. It's October and it's still pretty nice outside! As soon as the rain comes back, we'll be reduced to shopping malls and expensive indoor children's play areas.
Less than two weeks from now, Owen and I are flying down to California to visit friends and family! We're SO EXCITED. I might be a bit more excited than Owen. :]
Ashlee is flying out to visit at the same time, so we'll be seeing her too! :D
She'll be staying with our dad, and Owen and I are gonna be staying with Tara and Jenna.
Now that I'm in front of an actual laptop, I have writer's block.....................

Time flies when you're havin' fun!
Owen is 13.5 months old already! His birthday came and went SO FAST. Feels like I was waiting for so long for him to turn 1, and now it's already been over a month!
His birthday BBQ was a success! We had it on the 18th of August at our house. He got a ton of cool toys.
Here he is in tears because the Happy Birthday song was a bit overwhelming for him:
Poor dude. :]
I suppose I should give a quick run-down on his developments...
He started walking like the day he turned 11 months. He got good at it REALLY fast, too. It was crazy.
He started climbing things not too long after he got the hang of walking....and holy crap, THAT'S scary. He falls on his head pretty much several times a day. He has bruises and scabs all over him. He's definitely a crazy little boy!!
He talks every waking moment now, too. Not English, though. :]
My good friend Jen (one of the many Jen's I know!) is started a 365 Project/blog about her kids, and it's inspired me to possibly do the same..........
Stand by for future posts.

OWEN
My baby started crawling this morning. He's been crawling backwards for a while now, then this morning he just went for it.
I can't believe how old he is already. I know almost 9 months is still so young, but it feels like just yesterday he was a little tiny colicky newborn. It's funny.. I find myself missing him as a newborn, then I remember how much he cried when he was an infant. He's so happy now. I wonder what his problem was. I always thought it was because he didn't feel good...like he had gas or something. He would spit up a lot. He's cool now. Spit up is rare.
That's all for now.
